Everything you need to know before getting started
Currently, you can import chapters in two ways:
We're working on adding support for file uploads (.txt, .epub) in future updates.
Try it yourself—you'd be surprised. Sign up and translate a chapter to see the quality firsthand.
Think of it like a human translator reading your novel from start to finish. LighTL maintains context across thousands of chapters, remembering character relationships, terminology decisions, and narrative threads throughout your entire work.
This is why starting from Chapter 1 gives the best results—LighTL builds understanding as it reads, just like you would.
We currently support translation to English from:
All languages translate to English. Additional target languages may be added in the future based on demand.
It depends on the type of mistake:
One-off translation error: If you just don't like how a specific line was translated, you can fork that chapter, revise it, and continue on the same thread. The revision stays isolated.
Translation decision you disagree with: This is trickier. If LighTL made a terminology or style decision you don't like (e.g., how they translated a character name or honorific), you'll want to fork from that chapter and retranslate forward from there. Why? Because LighTL maintains consistency—it will keep using that decision in future chapters whether you like it or not.
Best practice: Review translations chapter by chapter as they complete. Fix issues early before they propagate through your entire novel.
It depends on backend load:
Don't worry—translations run in the background. Queue up multiple chapters and leave them overnight if needed.
Don't panic. This usually means the backend is busy processing other requests. Here's what you need to know:
Note: Queued translations can be cancelled anytime without being charged.
Yes. You have multiple export options:
You own your translations. Do whatever you want with them.
You're paying for compute, not a fixed per-chapter rate. The cost varies based on:
As a rough estimate, typical chapters (around 150 lines) cost approximately $0.50, but this can vary—some chapters cost less, some cost more. You'll see the exact credit usage after each translation completes.
Revisions you request also consume credits—each revision requires LighTL to reprocess context and adjust related content for consistency.
We accept credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, Link, and PromptPay (availability depends on your region).
No. Your credits never expire. Buy them whenever, use them whenever.
